Johannes Praetorius (civil servant)

Johannes Praetorius (born May 28, 1794 in Harbach ; † June 13, 1863 in Schotten ) was a Hessian civil servant and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Johannes Praetorius was the son of the teacher Johann Ludwig Praetorius (1763-1835) and his wife Anna Margaretha nee Becker (1764-1831). Johannes Praetorius, who was a Protestant denomination, married Christine Fendt (1795–1876) born in Schotten on November 19, 1820.

Praetorius was a tax collector in Kaichen and Rendel . In 1823 he became a tax collector in the district of the city of Giessen and in 1824 he became a calculator for the general control of indirect conditions. In 1828 he was promoted to chief inspector in the main customs office in Vilbel and in 1832 he was transferred to Homberg / Ohm as a rent officer. In 1844 he was appointed rent agent in Schotten, where he was appointed to the domain council in 1847.

From 1834 to 1841 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of Oberhessen 7 / Homberg . In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament .
