Carl Helmrich

Carl Helmrich (born March 16, 1790 in Wehrheim , † February 15, 1834 in Rodheim ) was a liberal Hessian politician and former member of the 2nd Chamber of the Land estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Carl Helmrich was the son of the princely Nassau-Orange bailiff in Wehrheim , Johann Georg Andreas Helmerich and his second wife Elisabetha Philippine Henriette née Lorch from Homburg, who had married Helmerich in 1877. After his father's death on December 23, 1795, Carl Helmrich was placed under guardianship like his five siblings. The paternal family was wealthy. In 1796 the inheritance was divided when the mother remarried. The value of the estate was estimated at 85,724 guilders.

Carl Helmrich was married to Amalie Franziska, née Hoffmann.

Life

Carl Helmrich studied law in Heidelberg and Göttingen from 1807 to 1809 . In the Wars of Liberation from 1812 to 1815 he served as a lieutenant in the 7th Line Battalion of the British-German Legion. He was wounded in the Battle of Waterloo and retired from the military as a Hanoverian captain.

After retiring from the military, he became a landowner on the Glaubzahl farm near Borsdorf in the Wetterau.

politics

Carl Helmrich was elected to the second chamber of the state estates in 1826 for the constituency of Upper Hesse 12 / Bingenheim-Nidda-Eschzell. In 1832 he was re-elected (this time for the constituency of Oberhessen 6 / Homberg). He belonged to the liberal opposition.
