An Innocent Man is the ninth studio album by the American musician Billy Joel .

Emergence

The album is a tribute to the music from Joel's childhood. The artist himself describes the work as a "singer's album" , the individual titles are homages to famous musicians and musical styles of the 1950s. The focus is on Doo Wop , a musical style based on a polyphonic vocal arrangement and in the titles " The Longest Time ”,“ This Night ”and“ Careless Talk ”are used.

After its release, “An Innocent Man” became Joel's best-placed album in the charts since “ Glass Houses ”. In the United Kingdom , for example, the record immediately took second place in the album charts. A total of three of the published singles reached a top 10 place in the US Billboard charts , including the number one hit "Tell Her About It", in addition to "Uptown Girl" (# 3) and "An Innocent Man ”(# 10) was also released as single“ The Longest Time ”,“ Leave a Tender Moment Alone ”,“ Keeping the Faith ”and“ This Night ”.
