Johannes Suhm
Johannes Suhm (* 1977 in Offenburg / Baden ) is a German actor .
Life
Suhm attended the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich.
During his studies he produced several radio plays for BR and made various short films ( Wednesday , director: Tim Trachte). Before that, he moved to Berlin in 1996 for his civil service, where he first studied theater studies for a few semesters at the Free University of Berlin . There he also played for the first time on the FU studio stage in a production of The Seagull by Anton Chekhov . In 2000 he began his acting studies in Munich, which he completed with a leading role in Fritz Kater's play Time to Love, Time to Die , directed by Peter Kastenmüller.
Immediately afterwards, he made his first appearance as Alexander Schmorell in the much-noticed film Sophie Scholl - The Last Days of Marc Rothemund . In spring 2004 he won the prize for the best young actor in the Sat.1 Talent Class. At the new beginning of the Hans Otto Theater under Uwe Eric Laufenberg , he was engaged in the ensemble in Potsdam, where he was seen in the opening production of the world premiere of Lina by Markus Hille in the lead role "Savigny" and as " Napoleon " in Gisbert Jäkel's performance of Tolstois War and peace at the historic site of the French Church. In addition, he played the son Leopold Treibel at the side of Katharina Thalbach in the production by Mrs. Jenny Treibel . He left the Potsdam Theater with the role of Edmund Tyrone in One Long Day's Journey into the Night , together with Angelika Domröse as the morphine addicted mother Mary .
Numerous cinema and television roles followed. In 2006 he played in the TV game for a holiday home in Ibiza by Marco Serafini his first starring role, and was then seen again and again in films on German history: As Thorwald Proll in The Baader Meinhof Complex by Uli Edel , as Helmut Kohl's childhood friend Egon Augustin Thomas Schadts biopic about the former chancellor, or in Stefan Krohmer's Dutschke . In 2010 he played the expressionist painter George Grosz in Bernd Fischerauer's documentary dramas The Counterrevolution & The Seizure of Power . In spring 2011 he was last in front of the camera as the reader of Frederick the Great, Henri de Catt , for the television film Friedrich - a German King .
In 2019 he played a leading role in the film adaptation of Benjamin Blümchen .
As a theater actor he worked increasingly in the independent scene after his first engagement at the Hans Otto Theater Potsdam. He was repeatedly seen at Gessnerallee Zurich, the Ballhaus Ost in Berlin or the Hoch X in Munich.
He has worked with the Swiss director Tobias Bühlmann for many years. a. in his Paranoid at the Zurich Festival.
Suhm is also the director of two documentaries that he also produced himself.
Johannes Suhm lives in Berlin.
