In the 2005/06 season, the goalkeeper won the championship of Hockey East with the team. In July 2007 he signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins as a free agent . In his rookie season he came to 40 missions for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League during the regular season, in which he achieved a catch rate of 91.5 percent and 23 playoff games. In December 2007, the goalkeeper was voted Rookie of the Month for the AHL when he parried 93.9 percent of the shots. Curry made it to the finals of the Calder Cup with the Penguins , in which they were defeated in six games by the Chicago Wolves . In the same season he also worked for the Las Vegas Wranglers and Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL . He also spent the following season mainly with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins, where he held the position as a regular goalkeeper. Curry made his debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League in the course of the calendar year 2008 , when he was called up on November 26, 2008 due to the injury-related absence of Marc-André Fleury in the NHL squad. In the game against the New York Islanders he was used during the second period for Dany Sabourin and parried all eleven shots on goal of the Islanders until the end of the game. In the following two years, however, he was only used sporadically for the Pittsburgh Penguins and was still a regular goalkeeper in the farm team in Wilkes-Barre. In January 2011 he was nominated for the AHL All-Star Classic because his teammate Brad Thiessen had to sit out due to an injury.
In June 2012 Curry was signed by the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League , with whom he signed a contract for the 2011/12 season. The goalkeeper was voted the crowd's favorite and the Hamburg fans' player of the season. With the declared goal of playing in North America again in the future, Curry refused to extend his contract in Hamburg after the past season. After his return to the USA, the left catcher decided in October 2012 to join the Orlando Solar Bears in the East Coast Hockey League and also made a loan for the Houston Eros from the American Hockey League during the 2012/13 season . For the 2013/14 season , Curry was initially acquired by trial contract ( try-out ) and later with a permanent position from the Iowa Wild from the AHL, but came again for the ECHL farm team in Orlando in the course of the following two seasons Use and even played four games for cooperation partner Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League .
