Career

Weisbrod, who acted on the position of the center , studied from 1987 to 1991 at Harvard University and went on the ice for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He had previously been selected by the Minnesota North Stars in the fourth round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft in a total of 73rd position . In the 1991 NHL Dispersal Draft, the San Jose Sharks selected him in 23rd place. Due to injury, the striker missed the following season, so Weisbrod only made his debut in the 1992/93 season with the reigning Turner Cup winner Kansas City Blades . In his only professional season, the American and his team lost to the San Diego Gulls in the conference finals , with Weisbrod not playing a playoff game due to injury and only playing in 16 IHL games of the regular season, in which he scored eight points. Finally, further injuries forced him to retire early as an active player.

Then Weisbrod struck a career as a functionary. First he filled from 1993 to 1997 the position of General Manager at the Albany River Council from the American Hockey League . 1995 won the farm team of the New Jersey Devils to the Calder Cup . The American held the same position from 1997 to 2001 with the Orlando Solar Bears from the International Hockey League. During this time the team won the Turner Cup in the last IHL season 2000/01 . After the dissolution of the International Hockey League Weisbrod was active in the sport of basketball and hired as general manager of the Orlando Magic from the National Basketball Association . In addition to the transfer of star player Tracy McGrady to the Houston Rockets , particular attention was paid to the selection of Dwight Howard in first position in the 2004 NBA draft . In 2005 he resigned from the post of general manager at Orlando Magic.

Then Weisbrod initially served primarily as a scout in the National Hockey League . First, he filled this position for a season with the Dallas Stars before moving to the Boston Bruins organization in 2006 . The former Harvard graduate worked there as Director of Collegiate Scouting from 2008 to 2011 and won the prestigious Stanley Cup with the team in 2011 . From 2011 until their joint discharge in December 2013, he was General Manager at the Calgary Flames under Jay Feaster's assistance .
