Career

At the end of the 2008/09 season, Malu had three appearances in the junior team of the first division club Cologne 99ers in the youth basketball league (NBBL). After the bankruptcy of the Cologne first division team, Malu moved to the syndicate of the first division Telekom Baskets Bonn and the second division Dragons from Rhöndorf . However, the team, which had already participated in the NBBL Top Four twice in the early history of the NBBL , missed a top position in 2010. At the renowned Albert Schweitzer tournament in 2010, Malu was also represented in the squad of the German U17 selection, the one achieved an outstanding third place in the U18 tournament; but he missed a nomination for the 2010 U17 World Cup in Germany, as did for later junior finals. Finally, in 2010, Malu was lured into the junior team of the first division club on the North Sea coast by Hamed Attarbashi , who had switched to the Eisbären Bremerhaven as a junior coach. After Malu had already received a nomination for the All-Star Game of the NBBL 2012 in the framework program of the BBL All-Star Games , he reached the final in the NBBL Top Four 2012 with the Junior Eisbären, which was lost to TSV Tröster Breitengüßbach , the offspring of the then German champion Brose Baskets .

His first appearance in the top German men 's division was in the 2011/12 basketball league for the polar bears in December 2011. After another brief assignment was added in the following season 2012/13 , Malu, who was otherwise active in the regional league for the parent club BSG Bremerhaven, initially only made two more brief assignments in the 2013/14 season before he became the old master in January 2014 46ers from Gießen moved to the second highest division ProA . With the Giessen, who were in the process of rebuilding after an impending bankruptcy and relegation from the top division for the first time with a large number of young German players, Malu was able to secure game shares and received the award as Youngster of the Month in March 2014 for his performance . The 46ers reached the fourth main round place and lost the play-off semi-final series, which was decisive for the promotion, against the main round first and later play-off winner BG Göttingen . In the following season, as a junior player with a double license , Malu also had four appearances for the cooperation team BasketBären from Lich in the third-highest division ProB . As a rotation player, he stood on the field for almost 20 minutes per game and marched back to the BBL with his team, unbeaten through the playoffs.

In the 2015/16 season Malu played for RheinStars Cologne in the ProA. In 27 season appearances, he posted an average of six points and 4.5 rebounds per encounter for the newcomer to the league. He left Cologne after the season and was given a one-year contract by Bundesliga club Alba Berlin at the end of July 2016 . His playing times in the capital city team were short: in the course of the 2016/17 season he played ten Bundesliga games for the Berlin team and scored a total of four points over the course of the season. In mid-August 2017, Malu moved to the second division club Ehingen / Urspring . For Ehingen he achieved an average of 7.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per match during the 2017/18 season, but missed relegation with the team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA. Due to Cologne's withdrawal, Ehingen subsequently held the class, Malu switched to the Artland Dragons in Quakenbrück during the summer break of 2018 . In October 2019, Quakenbrück and Malu separated.

In November 2017 he was appointed to the national team of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and took part in qualifying for the 2019 World Cup.
