José Francisco Agüera Oliver (born July 20, 1961 in Hausach ) is a German-speaking writer .

Life

José FA Oliver was born into a Spanish guest worker family who came to the Federal Republic of Germany from Málaga in 1960 . He grew up speaking German and Spanish and is also familiar with the Alemannic dialect of his Black Forest homeland. Oliver completed his Abitur at the Robert-Gerwig-Gymnasium in Hausach and then studied Romance languages , German and philosophy at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . He has lived as a freelance writer in his hometown Hausach since the 1980s , interrupted by stays abroad in Switzerland, Spain, Egypt, Peru and the USA.

Oliver is the author of poems, short prose and essays on cultural-political topics. He also experiments with his poems across disciplines and sometimes sings them at readings. Furthermore, his poems were also implemented in dance in the Sydney Opera House and he performed together with the rapper Doppel-U .

Oliver is a member of the Association of German Writers and is the curator of the Hausacher Reading Lenz literary festival that he set up in 1998. In addition to readings by many internationally known writers, this offers "writing, painting and storytelling workshops as well as an extensive accompanying program" for children and young people.

He has developed the "writing workshops for schools" in cooperation with the Literaturhaus Stuttgart that promote language sensitivity of children and young people and will expand their understanding of dealing with literature "From his work and the experience gained from it was Oliver's book practice Material: Lyric writing in class (2020).

In 2002 Oliver was visiting professor at MIT , and in 2007 he took over the Chamisso poetics lectureship at TU Dresden .
