Friedrich Adolf Julius Wolff von Linger , until 1873 Julius Wolff (born March 25, 1812 in Berlin , † August 30, 1905 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Origin and family

His parents were Karl August Wolff (1766-1813) and Marie Therese, née Sigismund (* 1786), who remained in the wars of liberation off Cottbus , Prussian prime lieutenant of the Brandenburg artillery brigade.

In 1846 he married Sophie Mathilde von Linger (1820–1905), a daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Linger (1794–1871). As a result of this marriage, the Prussian nobility was conferred as Wolff von Linger in 1873 . The marriage resulted in two daughters and two sons.

Career

Wolff began his career in the Prussian army in 1823 as a cadet in Potsdam, moved to Berlin in 1826 before becoming a non-commissioned officer in 1828 . In 1829 he was a Second Lieutenant in the 3rd Infantry Regiment and was transferred to the 30th Infantry Regiment in 1830 . In 1841 he was assigned to the rifle revision commission in Saarn and in 1842 he was promoted to prime lieutenant. Since 1844 he was a member of the rifle examination commission, temporarily left in Saarn, but in 1846 he was assigned to the rifle revision commission in Neisse . When he was promoted to captain , he also became president of the rifle revision commission. At the end of 1850, Wolff was transferred to the artillery department in the Prussian War Ministry. He rose to major in 1853 and in 1855 became the commandant of Weichselmünde and Neufahrwasser . In 1859 he became inspector of the rifle factories and was promoted to lieutenant colonel . In 1861 he was promoted to colonel and in 1863 was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with a bow. In 1865 he was awarded the character as a major general added, leaving its inspector position to the officers of the army. Wolff received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves, in 1866, his patent for Major General in 1868 , and finally in 1871 the character of Lieutenant General. In 1875 he was honored with the Grand Cross of the Saxon Order of Albrecht and the Order of the Crown, 1st Class. Wolff Linger was in 1876 with pension under award of the Red Eagle, First Class with oak leaves and the enamel band of the Crown Order for grabs asked.
