Justin Bailey (born July 1, 1995 in Williamsville , New York ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League since July 2019 and for their farm team , the Utica Comets , in American Hockey League is used.
Career
Bailey played for the Amherst Knights U14 team in the 2009/10 season and won the championship with the team. The following year, Bailey appeared in twelve games for the Buffalo Regals - he missed the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. He scored four goals and set up another. At the end of the season he was elected by the Indiana Ice in eleventh place in the USHL Entry Draft and in 128th place by the Kingston Frontenacs in the OHL Priority Selection .
Bailey moved to the 2011/12 season to the Long Island Royals in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League, where he scored 21 goals in 22 games and made the decisive pass 13 more times. He was also in the penalty box for 52 minutes. He also appeared in two games for the Indiana Ice in the United States Hockey League , where he scored a goal. Justin Bailey competed with the American team at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2012, where he scored two goals in four games. After the tournament he joined the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League , where he reached 17 goals and 19 assists in 57 games; he was also in the penalty box for 34 minutes.
After the Buffalo Sabers had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft 2013 in 52nd position and equipped him with an entry contract in November 2014 , Bailey switched to the organization of the Sabers at the beginning of the 2015/16 season. Until the end of the 2017/18 season, he regularly switched between the NHL squad and the Sabers farm team , the Rochester Americans from the American Hockey League (AHL). After the Americans the first half of the season 2018/19 had spent in the AHL with the Americans, he was in January 2019 in exchange for Taylor Leier to the Philadelphia Flyers transferred, where he also the AHL partners Lehigh Valley Phantoms to operations came. He then moved to the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent in July 2019 .
