Justin Morrow (born October 4, 1987 in Cleveland ) is an American football player in the position of defensive player .

Career

Youth and amateur football

Morrow played for the University of Notre Dame college team , scoring seven goals in 89 games. During his college years he played one year each for the Indiana Invaders, the Cleveland Internationals and for Chicago Fire U-23 in the USL Premier Development League . With Chicago Fire U-23 he was in the final of the USL PDL championship in 2009.

Club career

Morrow was chosen as the twelfth pick in the second round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the San José Earthquakes . He made his competitive debut on April 14, 2010 in the game against Real Salt Lake . However, he made his MLS debut on May 1, 2010 in the game against the Colorado Rapids . During the 2010 season, he was loaned to the Tampa Bay Rowdies. After he returned to the start of the 2011 season, he was loaned back to the Tampa Bay Rowdies. However, this loan was only short-lived, so that he returned in July 2011. The following year he became a regular for the San José Earthquakes and his team surprisingly won the MLS Supporters' Shield . After the 2013 season, Morrow moved to league rivals Toronto FC . He was voted the most valuable player on his team for the 2014 season by the online blog of Walking the Red , a fan group of Toronto FC.

National team

Morrow made his debut for the United States national soccer team on January 29, 2013 against Canada . He was part of the US squad for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup .
