Kílian Jornet Burgada (born October 27, 1987 in Sabadell ) is a Spanish ski mountaineer , mountain runner and duathlete in combined mountain running and mountain biking from Catalonia .

Life

Jornet started ski mountaineering in 1999. With the participation in the Spain Cup in La Molina he contested his first competition in 2000 and has been a member of the Spanish national ski mountaineering team since 2003 , and since 2007 also in the men's squad. He is a member of the international Salomon team and lives in Puigcerdà .

Already in the youth class he won numerous championship titles in international and national competitions. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 he was awarded the Premi d'honor d'esport català , the Catalan sports honorary prize, for his success in ski mountaineering . Since 2004 he has been a “high level athlete” of the Catalan Sports Council (Consell Català de l'Esport) and the High Sports Council (Consejo Superior de Deportes) of the Spanish government (No. 40.563.172 - Moñana y Escalada).

In 2005 he set the course record in mountain running at the Dôme de Neige des Écrins (4,015 m). In 2007 he was the overall winner of the Buff SkyRunner World Series of the Federation for Sport at Altitude (FSA) with victory in four of seven races and in 2008 with victory in three of six races . So far, only François D'Haene , Xavier Thévenard and himself have managed to win the UTMB three times (2008, 2009 and 2011).

He lives in a relationship with the Swedish professional trail runner Emelie Forsberg . His sister Naila Jornet Burgada is also an active ski mountaineer.
