Kübelstein is a village and district of Scheßlitz in the Bamberg district . The place is on the Jura on the edge of Franconian Switzerland . In April 2005 Kübelstein had 126 inhabitants. The village was founded in 1308 and celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2008.

The name of the place, which has been handed down unchanged for centuries, could be related to a stone or rock that was shaped like a bucket.

The place Kübelstein was mentioned for the first time in a document in the so-called Hochstiftsurbar A, with which Count Friedrich von Truhendingen pledged his possessions around Scheßlitz to the Bamberg Bishop Wulfing von Stubenberg in 1308 .
