Demmelsdorf is a district of Scheßlitz in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg . On March 31, 2005 Demmelsdorf had 312 inhabitants.

history

The village had a large Jewish population until the Nazi era. On a hill above Demmelsdorf there is still a well-preserved Jewish cemetery .

On May 1, 1978, the place was incorporated into the city of Scheßlitz.

During the construction of an overland water pipeline in 1983, the grave of a Celtic princess from the late Hallstatt period was found between Scheßlitz and Demmelsdorf . She was buried on a wagon from which iron wheel rims and bronze fittings were found. Numerous bronze jewelry such as neck rings, earrings and a gold spiral ring for the hair could also be recovered.
