"The Isenburger" Köln-Holweide 1974 eV is a carnival society from the Cologne district of Holweide . The society is a member of the festival committee Cologne Carnival and the Bund Deutscher Karneval .

history

In the 1950s, most of the festival halls in Holweider had to be closed for events on the scale of a carnival session, partly due to building inspectorate deficiencies, which is why the two existing carnival clubs dissolved. On September 11, 1974, around 30 citizens of Holweid met in the Hotel zur Post and discussed the drafts for the establishment of a carnival club. An agreement was quickly reached, and 17 members founded the society under the name "Karnevalsgesellschaft Köln-Holweide 1974 eV" with the colors green and yellow. Erich König was elected as the first president and Albert Dresen as the first chairman.

At the first annual general meeting on June 11, 1975, the number of members had risen to 39, and the number continued to rise, so that the hall of the Hotel zur Post became too small. The Catholic parish of St. Anno under Pastor Joseph Weber made the Annosaal available in Piccoloministraße, which had previously served the parish as an emergency church. There, in the so-called "Holweider Gürzenich ", the society had its headquarters until the building was demolished due to conversion into a retirement home in 2007. After that, there were alternating events in the tent, in the shooting hall of the St. Sebastianus Schützenbruderschaft Köln-Holweide 1926 eV, in the Brügelmann hall in Cologne-Deutz and most recently in the Dorint at the Cologne Exhibition Center.

On April 27, 1976, the Senate was founded by Peter Zierden, who also assumed the presidency. At the annual general meeting in 1977, the company gave itself its current name “Die Isenburger”, based on the Holweider moated castle “Isenburg”. This landmark of Holweide, together with parts from the Holweider and Cologne coat of arms, forms the emblem of the company. The musical identification mark is the "Isenburger song".

activities

Every year in November, at the opening of the carnival session, the new order of the session and the new festival booklet are presented. Furthermore, since 2002 a well-deserved Holweider citizen has been beaten by the "Kölschen Knights of the Round Table" to "Knights of Honor of Isenburg". In December there is an internal Christmas party and in the New Year a costume and men's meeting as well as a children's costume festival. One week before Carnival Sunday, the society celebrates a service in Kölsch together with the Holweider clubs and then invites you to a carnival morning pint in front of the church. An annual highlight is the Veedelszoch in Holweide, in which “Die Isenburger” take part together with many other groups.

Groupings

"The Isenburgers" are made up of society and the Senate, the latter under today's President Karl Kummer. In addition, the company had a children's dance group ("Isenburger Sprüütcher") and the dance group "Appelkööncher" for many years. Today the “Isenburg girls and boys” appear at carnival events in Cologne and the surrounding area.
