The Carnival Society UHU von 1924 e. V. Köln-Dellbrück is a carnival society in rechtsrheinischen Cologne district Dellbrück . The KG is a member of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee .

history

The Dellbrück district on the right bank of the Rhine has been part of Cologne since 1914. Even before that, the connection to the nearby city had become ever closer through the construction of a railway line from Deutz to Bergisch Gladbach with a train station in Dellbrück and the establishment of the tram line to Bergisch Gladbach. One consequence of this was a growing carnival club life in the future district. Associations such as the Catholic Workers' Association and the Catholic Youth Association were particularly active in this regard , which, for example, once scheduled a carnival session for "5:61 pm". The annual celebrations on the occasion of the Kaiser's birthday also developed into carnival-like events. Even then - at least from 1905 - the parade in Dellbrück, which still takes place today, took place on Carnival Tuesday . On January 22nd, 1910, the Merheim-Dellbrücker Zeitung reported the founding of the United Carnival Friends Dellbrück : “After several attempts had been made to transplant the carnival to Dellbrück in the true Cologne style, an association of Dellbrück citizens succeeded in that year , with the help of local Cologne residents. "

After the First World War , street carnivals, meetings and costume parties were forbidden by the Cologne police chief until 1926 on the instructions of the British occupying forces , and violators were threatened with prison terms of several days. Wearing carnival clothing, singing carnival songs and throwing streamers and confetti were also prohibited. Despite these adversities, several committed citizens of Dellbrück founded the KG UHU on January 31, 1924. Why the eagle owl was chosen as the namesake is incomprehensible, but it is assumed that either Till Eulenspiegel was alluded to or the eagle owl as a symbol of wisdom and humor.

Two years later, in 1926, the KG provided Dellbrück with its own triumvirate . Since the carnival ban was still in force, the triumvirate went on a “cap trip” with a visit to various Dellbrücker restaurants. After 1930, due to the global economic crisis, there were no longer any Dellbrücker Dreigestirne; In 1931 and 1932 even the Rose Monday parades in Cologne were canceled due to the economic problems .

During the time of National Socialism , there were also anti-Semitic tones at events organized by the KG UHU, such as: En Belgium Jüd Barmat hät, Dat Volk ens nett schröpp. Dröm merk, - do kriß se op ding Plätt, Häld's do met "kosher" Köpp ("In Belgium the Jew Barmat once nicely fleeced the people. So remember - you get something on your bald head, you give yourself away with kosher heads" ). It is reported that the carnival events in 1939 were particularly exuberant, "as if there was an inkling of impending doom". The clerk of the KG, Jupp Blank, wrote the “Kassandraruf”: Then it blows like a sea of fire from vast expanses, then it roars unrestrained through time like a wild army. In the song book for the final session on February 19, 1939, there is a macabre song text in which it says among other things: The Schmitzens catch the bombs op and then throw them dr. Müller's dropp.

After the Second World War , the first KG UHU event took place in November 1946, followed by three meetings, a costume ball, a spring and summer festival and a fair ball. In 1949 the society celebrated its 25th anniversary, and the dance group “Schalksnarren” with a traditional dance couple was founded, but dissolved again in 1963 due to a lack of young people. In 1955 the Dellbrücker Tuesday train was operated again for the first time, which had to be canceled in 1967 for financial reasons, but has since taken place regularly with the participation of the KG UHU.

Since 1974 the KG UHU has also regularly participated in the Rose Monday parades in Cologne. In the same year, the KG also provided the Cologne triumvirate of Heiner Mühr (Prince Heiner I), Wilbert Mühr (farmer Wilbert) and Hans Jungkenn (Jungfrau Johanna). Heiner Mühr was also President of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee from 1979 to 1982 and thus the first FK President of Schäl Sick , his brother Wilbert acted as prince leader for seven years.

In 1976 the later extremely popular Dellbröcker Boore-Schnäuzer Ballet , which was supervised by the well-known Cologne carnival ballet master Peter Schnitzler , made its first appearance. The male members of the ballet, which satirizes the militaristic dance corps of the other Cologne carnival societies, all wear a mustache, tricorn, glasses and frock coat instead of the uniform and "Paraplü" (= umbrella ) that is common in Cologne carnival . instead of "Knabüs" (= wooden rifle ). and feather duster instead of feathers on the tricorn. The obligatory dance couple consists of two men, whereby the " Tanzmariechen " ("Tring vun d'r Kohjass") is much larger than his dance partner and the roles are reversed when dancing: "the weirdest couple on the Cologne carnival scene" wrote the Kölnische Rundschau . The corps is accompanied from the beginning by a "striped Pääd" (= zebra ). an animal parody in which two members of the ballet ( Pääd vürren and Pääd henge ) are.

KG UHU organizes several sessions in each carnival session, such as the Boore session nor för Weechter (ladies ' session ), the Boore-Puute session (children 's session ) and the Boore session nor för Häre ( men's session ), but also other events during the Year.

In 1988 the youth section of the KG UHU, the J'UHUS, was founded. Eleven years later, in 1999, the KG created the Cologne triumvirate a second time with Kurt Richter (Prince Kurt IV.), Hans-Jürgen Köber (Farmer Jürgen) and Klaus Fischer (Virgin Claudia). In the same year the KG celebrated its 75th anniversary and the young ballet Schnäuzer Pänz was founded.

In January 2014, the KG UHU organized a “girls' meeting” for ZDF in the Sartory halls .
