The Cologne Carnival Society Nippeser Bürgerwehr 1903 eV is one of the nine traditional corps in the Cologne Carnival and a full member of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee as well as a member of the Bund Deutscher Karneval . Because of their orange uniforms, the members of the Nippes vigilante group are also called "Appelsinefunke".

history

The Nippeser vigilante is a carnival society in Nippes , which in 1888 after Cologne had been incorporated. In Nippes there were various efforts to celebrate the carnival at this time , but without founding a society or an association. It was not until 1903 that the KG Nippes Riehl emerged from a men's choir , which was renamed the Große Nippeser KG shortly afterwards . After the First World War , the KG-formed again and following the order forces "Garde munizipal de la Ville de Cologne" made of the rural population and the citizens in the years 1799 to 1815 the KG was founded in 1928 in Great Nippeser KG "Foolish vigilantes" named and finally renamed to KKG Nippeser Bürgerwehr 1903 eV .

Since 1914 the Nippes vigilante group has been organizing carnival parades through Nippes, only on Carnival Monday and since 1926 on Carnival Tuesday . The Nippes vigilante group has been a participant in the Cologne Rose Monday procession since 1937 . After the Second World War , the Nippes vigilante organized a Tuesday parade again since 1950, and since 1952 the company has again been part of the Cologne Rose Monday procession.

Also in the 2017/2018 session, the triumvirate with Michael Gerhold as prince , Christoph Stock as farmer and Erich Ströbel as virgin will come from the ranks of the Nippes vigilante group .

As the last of the nine traditional corps , the Nippes vigilante group was appointed a traditional corps by the festival committee president on February 23, 2001 .

Since 1960, the Nippes vigilante group has been opening the street carnival on Wilhelmplatz in Nippes on Weiberfastnacht at 9:11 a.m., two hours before the festival committee on the Alter Markt .

The body parts

With the amendment to the statutes of May 18, 2009, the Nippes vigilante group is now divided into five body parts, the active dance corps (the guard), the reserve corps and the equestrian corps founded in 2009 as well as the supporting bodies such as the Senate and the Corps à la suite .

The Guard (the active dance corps)

The figurehead of the Nippes vigilante group is the guard (the dance corps). As early as 1929 there was a Mariechen in the Nippes vigilante group with Carolie Trimborn , but initially there were no dancing soldiers. In 1931 Mariechen was assigned a dance officer . It wasn't until the 1937 session that the first real Mariechentanz took place . The guard dance corps had six members at that time. After the Second World War , the Nippes vigilante started again in 1950 with appearances at carnival meetings .

Today the guard has almost 100 members and is led by commandant Mario Moersch.

The reserve corps

The members of the reserve corps do not have the same obligations as the active members and take part in the social life of the Nippes vigilante in a relaxed manner . The members of the reserve corps have all the fundamental rights that the members of the other bodies enjoy. At their head is the reserve corps leader.

The equestrian corps

In the 2006 session, a privately organized cavalry squadron of the Nippes vigilante group took part in a Tuesday train for the first time. On May 18, 2009, the General Assembly included the equestrian corps as an official body in the statutes. The equestrian corps also takes part in the Rose Monday procession. In Reiterkorps women as so-called "Amazons" can become a member.

The Senate

The Senate of the Nippes Vigilantes , in its current form, was founded in 1968. As early as 1929 and 1951 people were named who held the title of Senate President, but no active senators are known in the history of the Nippes vigilantes in the early years. The Senate is the financial backbone of the association and contributes significantly to the promotion and fulfillment of the statutory purposes and the social life of the association. The aim is to provide financial and ideal support to the active corps. Active members, reserve corps members, friends and patrons can be appointed senators. The President of the Senate is Alexander Gewehr (as of 2016) .

Corps à la suite

On the initiative of Bert Pulheim, a "reserve officer corps" was founded in 1985. Two years later, the reserve officer corps became the official corps à la suite . The Corps à la suite sees itself as a supporter of Cologne customs and the Rose Monday procession. The corps à la suite consists of 120 members, the head of the corps à la suite is Christoph Stock.
