history
The settlement was created from 1975 in connection with the construction of the Kysyl thermal power station (Kysylskaja TEZ) . Economy and Infrastructure
In addition to the combined heat and power plant operated by Tywaenergo as the largest electrical energy producer in the republic, with its associated open- pit coal mine ten kilometers to the south-east, Kaa-Chem also has food processing companies as well as trading and supply companies. The construction of a large building materials factory from the 1980s onwards was canceled during the economic crisis after the collapse of the Soviet Union . In the last few years the place has increasingly developed into a residential suburb of the city of Kyzyl due to individual development in the eastern part .
The regional road that connects Kyzyl with the administrative center of Kaa-Chem Saryg-Sep district , located almost 100 kilometers upstream on the Little Yenisei, runs through the village .
