Kafr el-Sheikh ( Arabic محافظة كفر الشيخ Muhāfazat Kafr al-Sheikh , DMG Muḥāfaẓat Kafr aš-Šayḫ , Egyptian-Arabic Muḥāfẓet Kafr El Sheikh ) is a governorate in Egypt with 3,362,185 inhabitants and is located in the northern Nile Delta .

It borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Ad-Daqahliyya Governorate to the east, the al-Gharbiyya Governorate to the south and the al-Buhaira Governorate to the west . The administrative center is Kafr el-Sheikh .
