Customs and traditions

Since a large part of the population is Roman Catholic , various Catholic holidays are celebrated throughout the year. Carnival is also celebrated, with various associations holding carnival balls, and carnival weddings also take place at longer intervals . During the Advent season and until after the New Year , the associations in the village and in the surrounding area hold Christmas tree auctions, in which objects, natural objects, vouchers and, last but not least, a Christmas tree are auctioned off to the highest bidder . In addition, the " Krippenbauer- Verein" exhibits numerous nativity scenes, the largest and most famous of which can be found in front of the altar of the Kaikenried church. This is a nativity scene, first built in 1993, in which several historical buildings were rebuilt in detail. There were several media reports about this crib. On the day of national mourning there is a memorial at the war memorial at the Church of the Assumption of Mary. Furthermore, there is the traditional tradition of setting up the maypole on the day before May 1st, the solstice fire and the ringing of the wolf .

Public facilities

The Kaikenried volunteer fire brigade , whose fire station is in the center of the village, is responsible for safety in the area of fire protection and technical assistance in the area and in the neighboring villages . The siren to alert the fire brigade is also installed on the roof of the clubhouse . Next to the clubhouse is the so-called "old fire station" (was built by the fire brigade in 1969 on the same place as the previous fire station and was used until 1989). The building yard of the Teisnach community has a branch here. The local carrier pigeon club uses the same premises . The horticultural association has also installed a fruit press in the old fire station, where cider can be pressed regularly in autumn even for non-association members .
