Karłowice Małe (German Klein Carlowitz , 1936–1945 Klein Karlshöh ) is a village of the urban and rural municipality Kamiennik in the powiat Nyski in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland.

Geographical location
The street village of Karłowice Małe is located in the southwest of the historical region of Upper Silesia . The place is about five kilometers southeast of the municipality of Kamiennik , about 15 kilometers northwest of the district town of Nysa and about 65 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole .
Karłowice Małe is located in the Nizina Śląska ( Silesian Plain ) within the Równina Grodkowska ( Grottkau Plain ). The place is on the disused railway line Otmuchów - Przeworno .

history
In the work Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis from the years 1295-1305, the place is first mentioned as Carlovitz parvum . The place name Karlowicz parvum has been handed down for the year 1359 .
After the First Silesian War in 1742, Klein Carlowitz and most of Silesia fell to Prussia .
After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Klein Carlowitz belonged to the district of Grottkau in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a castle, an outbuilding, a pub and 23 other houses in the village. In the same year 150 people lived in Klein Carlowitz, three of them Protestants. In 1855, 184 people lived in Klein Carlowitz. In 1865 there were 13 gardeners, five cottagers and six granny jobs. The residents of Groß Carlowitz were trained and parish. In 1874 the district of Zedlitz was founded, which consisted of the rural communities of Graschwitz, Klein Carlowitz, Ogen, Reisendorf, Reisewitz and Zedlitz and the manor districts of Klein Carlowitz, Reisendorf, Reisewitz and Zedlitz. In 1885 Klein Carlowitz had 124 inhabitants.
In 1933 there were 254 people in Klein Carlowitz. On July 22, 1936, the place was renamed Klein Karlshöh in the course of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . In 1939 Klein Karlshöh had 253 inhabitants. Until the end of the war in 1945, the place belonged to the district of Grottkau .
As a result of the Second World War, Klein Karlshöh fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . It was subsequently renamed Karłowice Małe and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. The German population was largely expelled . In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Nyski .
Attractions
- The small Carlowitz Castle was built in the late 18th century in the classical style. After the Second World War, the building fell into disrepair. Today only the outer walls of the building remain. The building has been a listed building since 1965.
