Office Niederaula

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Niederaula office was an administrative and judicial district of the Hersfeld Abbey , the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel and the Electorate of Hesse with its seat in Niederaula , which existed from the 14th century to 1821 .

history

Around the Villication Oulaho (Niederaula), the Hersfeld Abbey owned large forests within a 4.4 km radius. As part of the territorialization, this resulted in the Niederaula office, which was the largest and richest office of the Hersfeld Abbey. The office was first mentioned in a document in 1384. Oberaula has been the center of a high court district since 1182 . The high court also assumed high jurisdiction for the Hersfeld office .

As a result of the Vitalis Night in 1378, Niederaula became the property of the Hessian Landgrave, but in 1434 Ludwig I of Hesse (1402–1458) returned Niederaula to the Abbot of Hersfeld.

In 1648 the Hersfeld Abbey was dissolved due to the Peace of Westphalia and, as the Principality of Hersfeld, part of the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel. This made the Niederaula office in Hesse. At that time, it comprised Hattenbach Castle , Reckerode , Reimboldshausen , Goßmannsrode , Kirchheim , Heddersdorf , Frielingen , Gersdorf , Willingshain , Allendorf in the desert , Ambirterode (desert), Heiligenborn (desert), Keudelbach (desert), Gundeshausen (desert), Niederjossa and the Scheidhof.

In the 16th century, Hattenbach Castle was also named as the official seat itself. In Hesse, however, the Niederaula office and the Hattenbach court were administered jointly.

In 1806, as part of the formation of the Rhine Confederation, the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel was dissolved and the administrative area fell to the Kingdom of Westphalia . The canton Niederaula was created there . After the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, the Electorate of Hesse was created again and the Niederaula office was rebuilt. It now consisted of Niederaula, Allendorf, Asbach , Beiershausen , Frielingen, Gersdorf, Gershausen , Goßmannsrode, Heddersdorf, Kemmerode , Kerspenhausen , Kirchheim, Kleba , Mengshausen , Niederjossa, Reckerode, Reimboldshausen, Rotterode , Solms , Willingshain and Hattenbach Castle.

In 1821/22 the separation of jurisdiction from administration was introduced in Kurhessen . The administrative tasks went to the district of Hersfeld , the jurisdiction to the justice office Niederaula and in the second instance to the regional court of Hersfeld . The office itself was dissolved.
