Karen Young (born September 29, 1958 in Pequannock , New Jersey , USA ) is an American actress .

Life

Young attended Rutgers University . She has five younger siblings. She moved to New York City to act . In the theater she appeared in the play A Lie of the Mind by Sam Shepard . She made her cinema debut in the action drama Handgun - Der Waffennarr (1983), in which she played the leading role.

In the course of her career, Young has played over thirty roles, including in the anti-war film Birdy (1984) by director Alan Parker with Matthew Modine and Nicolas Cage , in 9 1/2 weeks (1986) by Adrian Lyne with Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger , in the thriller The Woman Killer (1988) by Martin Campbell with Gary Oldman and Kevin Bacon and in the action film Daylight (1996) by Rob Cohen with Sylvester Stallone . She worked as director, screenwriter and producer on the short films A Blink of Paradise (1992) and The Pesky Suitor (1995). In the psychological thriller Mercy - The Dark Side of Lust (2000) by Damian Harris with Ellen Barkin and Peta Wilson , Young portrayed both victim and perpetrator. Between 2002 and 2006, she was seen in several episodes of the television series The Sopranos .

Karen Young was married to actor Tom Noonan for some time and has two children.
