Karl Eberhardt (politician)

Karl Eberhardt (born April 19, 1887 in Stettin ; † March 7, 1973 in Neustadt bei Coburg ) was a German lawyer and politician ( FDP ). From 1950 to 1958 he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament and from 1954 to 1958 chairman of the FDP parliamentary group.

Life

After graduating from high school in Stettin in 1905, Eberhardt studied law at the universities in Königsberg , Munich , Berlin and Greifswald . In 1908 he passed the first state examination in law and in the same year became German municipal associations abroad with the dissertation topic . A historical-dogmatic study for doctor of law doctorate . After passing the second state examination in law, he practiced as a lawyer in Stettin from 1913.

During the First World War , Eberhardt was seconded to the District Court of Łódź from 1915 to 1918 as an Imperial German judge . From 1918 to 1922 he was director of the German Agricultural Cooperative Association and director of the bank affiliated to it, then until 1923 member of the board of the Raiffeisen organization in Poznan . From 1924 he worked again as a lawyer in Stettin and was also licensed as a notary.

In the course of the German occupation of Poland in World War II , Eberhardt was appointed as an administrative lawyer and judge in the Generalgouvernement . From 1940 he worked as a legal clerk in the main economic department in Krakow , before he was seconded in May 1941 by the Reich Ministry of Justice as a judge at the German Higher Court for the "Krakow District". From February 1943 to 1945 he worked as a consultant in the main justice department of the Generalgouvernement.

After the end of the war Eberhardt moved to West Germany and settled in Neustadt near Coburg, where he was appointed as a district judge by the US military government in September 1945. From August 1946 until he left the service in February 1950, he worked as a judge at the Neustadt district court near Coburg . He then worked as a lawyer in his hometown.

Eberhardt joined the FDP and was politically active. In the state elections in 1950 and 1954 , he was elected to the Bavarian state parliament through the constituency of Upper Franconia, to which he belonged until 1958. From 1950 to 1954 he was a member of the Committee on Issues of Displaced Persons and Victims of War and the Committee on Pay Issues, from 1954 to 1958 a member of the Interim Committee and from 1955 to 1958 a member of the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Issues and the Committee on Information on Federal Affairs . In 1954 he was elected chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the state parliament.

Karl Eberhardt was married to Hela, née Richter. The couple had three children.
