Karl Fritz , also Carl Fritz (born August 20, 1864 in Adelhausen ; † December 7, 1931 in Freiburg im Breisgau ), was Archbishop of Freiburg from October 28, 1920 until his death .

Life

Karl Fritz grew up in Pfaffenberg from 1873 and completed his theological studies in Freiburg im Breisgau. There he became a member of the KDSt.V. Arminia Freiburg im Breisgau in CV . He was ordained a priest on July 12, 1888 in Freiburg im Breisgau. Before his appointment as bishop, Karl Fritz was cathedral chapter in Freiburg. In 1913 he was also accepted as an honorary member of the KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau .

On October 12, 1920, his election as Archbishop of Freiburg by Pope Benedict XV. approved. He was ordained bishop on October 28 of the same year by the Bishop of Rottenburg, Paul Wilhelm von Keppler ; Co- consecrators were Friedrich Justus Knecht , auxiliary bishop in Freiburg, and Joseph Damian Schmitt , bishop of Fulda . In 1921 Fritz convened a diocesan synod with the aim of revitalizing church life after the First World War . He set further accents, among other things, in Caritas work and kindergarten pedagogy.
