Karl Heinz Füssl

Karl Heinz Füssl (born March 21, 1924 in Gablonz , Czechoslovakia ; † September 4, 1992 in Eisenstadt , Burgenland ) was an Austrian composer and musicologist .

career

Füssl went to Berlin to study and began his training with Konrad Friedrich Noetel (composition), Gerd Otto (piano) and Hugo Distler (choir director). After the Second World War he settled in Vienna and began his studies with Alfred Uhl (composition), Erwin Ratz (analysis), and Hans Swarowsky (conducting). Füssl also worked as a music critic and worked as an editor for Universal Edition . On the one hand, he was entrusted with the Urtext editions, and he was also involved in the publication of works by Haydn , Mozart and Johann Strauss . The International Gustav Mahler Society entrusted Füssl with the publication of the Gustav Mahler Complete Edition . He was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
