Karl Albrecht Hermann von Dorpowski (born December 9, 1804 in Krummensee near Schlochau , † February 1, 1885 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel a. D. Franz Sigismund von Dorpowski (1772–1855) at Gut Krummensee and his wife Henriette Auguste Caroline Anne Amalie, née Countess von der Goltz (1784–1874), a sister of the Prussian Lieutenant General Karl Graf von der Goltz . The later Prussian Lieutenant General Adolf von Dorpowski (1811–1895) was his younger brother.

Military career

Dorpowski occurred on May 5, 1821 as Fusilier in the 21st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian army one. There he was promoted to secondary lieutenant on November 16, 1823 and from mid-October 1826 he completed the general war school for three years for further training . In February 1840 Dorpowski was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and served as a company commander in the 2nd Battalion in the 21st Landwehr Regiment until 1841. In the same capacity he was active from April 1842 to the end of March 1844 with the 2nd Combined Reserve Battalion. On February 27, 1846, when he was promoted to captain, he was appointed company commander in the 21st Infantry Regiment. This was followed from January 31, 1852 as a major and commander of the 1st battalion in the 23rd Landwehr Regiment in Neisse . From April 14, 1853 to December 7, 1855 Dorpowski was commander of the 2nd battalion in the 9th Landwehr Regiment in Küslin . He was then transferred to Stralsund as commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 2nd Infantry (King) Regiment and promoted to lieutenant colonel on April 9, 1857. Under position à la suite of his regiment, Dorpowski was appointed Commandant of Stralsund on May 19, 1859 and in this capacity was promoted to Colonel on May 31, 1859 . family

Dorpowski had married Emilie Luise Henriette von Wedel (1811-1847) in Kremzow on October 19, 1835 . After her death, he married Luise Friederike Johanna von Berg (1812–1897) in Dresden on August 16, 1861 . She was the daughter of Hans Georg Ludwig Ernst von Berg auf Silenz and his wife Luise Christiane Eleonore, née von Platen . The marriages produced three daughters.
