Karl von Könneritz

Karl Hans August von Könneritz (born July 15, 1794 in Lemsel , † January 17, 1871 in Dresden ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Karl was a son of the Saxon chamberlain and major in the regiment of body cuirassiers Karl Heinrich Ehrenreich von Könneritz (1749-1817) and his wife Wilhelmine Karoline, née von Wartensleben (1773-1800). His brother Rudolph (1800–1870) was the Saxon ambassador in Vienna and Turin .

Military career

Könneritz first studied at the University of Leipzig and in 1813 entered the Saxon service as a second lieutenant . During the Wars of Liberation he fought at Courtray , Pont à Bouvines and the blockades of Condé and Lille . For Pont-à-Marcq he was awarded the Order of Saint Anne III. Awarded class with a ribbon.

He switched to Prussian services and was hired on May 20, 1815 as Prime Lieutenant and Adjutant in the Upper Saxon Landwehr Infantry Regiment . On April 10, 1816, Könneritz came to the Halle Grenadier Landwehr Battalion and on September 10, 1816 to the Berlin Guard Landwehr Battalion. On January 19, 1818, he retired as a captain with a waiting allowance .

On February 17, 1818, Könneritz was re-employed as a first lieutenant in the Berlin Guard Landwehr Battalion, rose to captain in the 1st Battalion of the 2nd Guard Landwehr Regiment in mid-March 1823 and was transferred to the Guard Reserve on March 30, 1826. Infantry Landwehr Regiment taken over. On March 30, 1837, he joined the 4th Infantry Regiment as a major . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 27, 1847 and appointed second in command of the fortress of Stettin on April 6, 1847 . On March 13, 1849, he was assigned to take care of the business as commandant of Stralsund Fortress , appointed commandant on May 1, 1849 and promoted to colonel on November 19, 1849 . In the same year the Swedish king awarded him the Knight's Cross of the Sword Order . From January 25, 1850 to February 18, 1852, Könneritz was commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade and then worked in the same capacity in the 15th Landwehr Brigade in Cologne . He retained command after being formed as the 30th Infantry Brigade and was promoted to major general on March 22, 1853 . Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general Könneritz was on May 5, 1857 Board for disposition made. On the occasion of the coronation of King Wilhelm I on October 18, 1861, he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves.

He died unmarried on January 17, 1871 in Dresden and was buried in the Trinity cemetery.
