Karl Friedrich Wilhelm von Rosenberg (born February 16, 1798 in Swinoujscie , † April 9, 1880 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Karl was a son of the Prussian major Otto Philipp Joseph von Rosenberg (1751-1838) and his wife Anna Barbara, née Matthee (1770-1838).

Military career

Rosenberg visited the cadet houses in Stolp and Berlin . On June 2, 1813 he was employed as a porter ensign in the 2nd Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army , and at the beginning of November 1813 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant . During the Wars of Liberation he took part in the battles near Großbeeren , Schmilkendorf, Hoogstraaten, Lier, Ypres, Courtray, Oudenaarde, Soissons, Wavre and Waterloo as well as the sieges of Stettin , Maubeuge , Landrecies , Rocroi and Givet . In Thießen he was wounded and Ligny with the Iron Cross awarded II. Class.

After the war, Rosenberg was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on March 21, 1819 and on December 5, 1821, was aggregated to the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot . He was promoted to captain by mid-April 1829 and was transferred to the Kaiser Alexander Grenadier Regiment on September 27, 1829 when he was appointed chief of the 10th Company . With the promotion to major Rosenberg came on March 30, 1840 as second commander to III. Battalion of the 1st Guard Landwehr Regiment in Konitz . In the same capacity, he took over the 1st Battalion in Königsberg on March 26, 1841 . This was followed on January 16, 1849 as a battalion commander in the 3rd Infantry Regiment . When troops were concentrated near Memel in mid-April 1849 , Rosenburg was commanded and commissioned with the management of the commandant's business. He was released from this command on June 1, 1849. On November 19, 1849, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on December 4, 1850, he was appointed commander of the 21st Infantry Regiment . In this position promoted to colonel on April 19, 1851 , Rosenberg became major general and commander of the 14th Infantry Brigade in Magdeburg on July 13, 1854 . Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general and the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves Rosenberg received on 10 June 1856 his parting with inn . He died in Berlin on April 9, 1880.

Rosenberg married Mathilde Auguste Barby (1798-1858) in Berlin on November 23, 1822, daughter of Professor Barby (1765-1837) who taught at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium . After her death on December 6, 1858 in Schwetz , he married Antonie von Wulffen (* 1838), a daughter of Wilhelm Ernst von Wulffen (1799–1874) on Parlin. and the Amalie von Uttenhoven.
