Katja Višnar (born March 21, 1984 in Jesenice ) is a Slovenian cross-country skier .

Career

Between 2001 and 2006 Višnar took part in the Continental Cup and the Alpine Cross-Country Cup. She ran her first World Cup race in October 2006 in Düsseldorf . She finished 27th in the sprint and won her first World Cup points. Her best placement at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo was 38th place in the sprint. Since 2006, in addition to the World Cup, she has also taken part in some Alpine Cup races, where her best placement in the 2007/08 season was 33rd place in the overall ranking. In the World Cup she specialized in sprint competitions. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec , she reached the 26th place in the sprint. In the 2009/10 World Cup season , Rybinsk was able to achieve a top ten placement in the World Cup for the first time with sixth place in the sprint. Two days later, she finished second in the team sprint. She finished the season with 44th place in the overall standings, 11th place in the sprint standings. At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , Višnar finished 16th in the sprint. In the 2010/11 World Cup season in Rybinsk she was able to take a podium finish in the individual for the first time with second place in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 , she finished 21st in the sprint and fifth in the team sprint. She finished the season in eighth place in the sprint classification. In the summer of 2011 she won the sprint bronze medal at the 2011 Rollerski World Championships in Aure and Kristiansund . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , Sprint narrowly missed a medal with fourth place. She finished sixth in the team sprint. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she finished ninth in the sprint. She finished the 2013/14 season in sixth place in the sprint ranking and 22nd place in the overall ranking. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season she reached second place in the sprint in Ruka . She came in the points in all sprint races during the season and finished the season in sixth place in the Sprint World Cup, as in the previous year. Her best results at the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun were 11th in the sprint and ninth in the team sprint. After taking a break in the 2015/16 season because of a pregnancy, she was twice in the top ten in the 2016/17 season in the World Cup singles and reached 16th place in the Sprint World Cup. Her best placements at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti were 21st place in the sprint, 13th place with the relay and eighth place together with Anamarija Lampič in the team sprint. In the 2017/18 season, she achieved 16th place in the Sprint World Cup with seven places in the points. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she ran to 16th place in the sprint and eighth place in the relay. At the end of April 2018 she won the Svalbard Skimaraton over 42 km classic.

In the 2018/19 season, Višnar finished 54th in the Lillehammer Triple and 55th in the World Cup finals in Québec . In addition, she sprinted three times under the top ten and thus achieved 32nd place in the overall World Cup and 13th place in the Sprint World Cup. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , she won the silver medal together with Anamarija Lampič in the team sprint. In addition, she ran there on the 26th place in the sprint and on the ninth place with the relay.
