Kenneth "Ken" Diaz is a makeup artist and special effects artist .

Life

Diaz began his career on the film staff in 1980 without credit in the credits at Michael Cimino's Western Heaven’s Gate . In 1982 he worked on John Carpenter's horror film The Thing From Another World , and in 1986 he worked again with Carpenter at Big Trouble in Little China . 1990 he worked for Gary David Goldberg's film drama Dad along with Dick Smith and Greg Nelson for the Oscar in the category Best Makeup and Best hairstyles nominated, but won this year Bruce Beresford's Driving Miss Daisy . In 1996 he received his second Oscar nomination, this time with Mark Sanchez , but they were defeated by Mel Gibson's historical drama Braveheart . Diaz has worked under renowned directors such as Martin Scorsese , Gore Verbinski , Steven Soderbergh , Oliver Stone and Ridley Scott .

In addition to his film engagements, Diaz has also worked for television, including the television series Alien Nation , Crossbones and Kingdom . For his work, he was nominated five times for the Primetime Emmy between 1990 and 2010 , which he won in 1990 and 1992.
