Ken Kercheval

Ken Kercheval (born July 15, 1935 in Wolcottville , Indiana , † April 21, 2019 in Clinton , Indiana) was an American actor , best known for his role as Cliff Barnes in the television series Dallas .

Life

Kercheval was born in 1935 to doctor Marine Kercheval and nurse Christine Rieber and grew up in Clinton County , Indiana. His career began on Broadway in 1962 with Something About a Soldier . He played other roles in The Apple Tree , Cabaret and Here's Where I Belong . He was first seen on television in 1966, where he played the doctor Nick Hunter in Search for Tomorrow . In the film he was z. B. The Seven-Ups with Roy Scheider and Tony Lo Bianco and FIST - A man goes his way with Sylvester Stallone to see. 1978 saw his breakthrough as Cliff Barnes on the television series Dallas . Ken Kercheval and Larry Hagman are the only actors in the series who have starred for the entire duration of Dallas , with Cliff Barnes being formally a supporting role in the first two seasons of the series. Only then was Kercheval named in the opening credits as the main actor.

In 2006 and 2007 he played on British stages in Southampton , Edinburgh and Cardiff . In November 2008, Kercheval attended the Dallas 30th Anniversary Celebration at Southfork Ranch . In 2009 he received a guest role in the German television series Geld.Macht.Liebe . In 1993, Kercheval, who was a heavy smoker and had been alcoholic for a long time , was diagnosed with lung cancer and had parts of his lungs removed. He was committed to early cancer detection , but continued to smoke.

He has been married three times and has five children. He lived for a while in Northridge , a part of Los Angeles . His girlfriend suffered from multiple sclerosis and was temporarily dependent on a wheelchair. In 2012, he slipped back into the role of Cliff Barnes in the sequel to the Dallas television series . Kercheval died in April 2019 at the age of 83.
