Kevin Onyekachi Amuneke (born May 10, 1986 in Eze Obodo ) is a Nigerian football player . He has been playing for Portadown FC in the NIFL Championship , Northern Ireland's second division , since summer 2017 .
Career
Amuneke began his career with the Soccer Warriors in his native Nigeria. As a 16-year-old he joined the B-team of the Portuguese big club Benfica Lisbon in 2002 , which he left for FC Porto in 2003 . After another year in a B team, he moved to Sweden in January 2004 and signed with Landskrona BoIS . At the end of the first season, the club was eleventh in the Allsvenskan . In the following season you did not get beyond a twelfth place and had to play in the playoff round against relegation. In the playoff they lost to GAIS Gothenburg and were relegated. He then stayed in Sweden's second division for half a year before returning to Portugal.
At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he signed with Vitória Setúbal . There he played in the Supercup at the beginning of the season, which they lost 3-0 to FC Porto. With 14th place, they were able to prevent relegation by one point at the end of the season. This season he also made his debut at European club level. In the first round of the UEFA Cup against the Dutch representative SC Heerenveen , Amuneke came on for Bruno Ribeiro in the 66th minute. The game ended 0-3. After the season, the Nigerian left Portugal again and joined CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria . After only ten games he went back to Sweden and signed with IFK Norrköping , where he was relegated to Amuneke in 16th and last place for the second time in his career.
In January 2009 his journey continued to Romania , where he was under contract with FC Timișoara . After only two games and the runner-up title as well as lost cup finals, he returned to the country of origin of his career and signed with Nacional Funchal . With the men from Madeira , the seventh place was achieved at the end of the 2009/10 season. In the 2010/11 season he was not considered and his contract was terminated.
In the summer of 2011, Amuneke joined Östers IF . He was rarely used in the Superettan and was often on the bench. In mid-2012, he terminated his contract. At the beginning of 2013 he moved to Trelleborgs FF in Division 1 . After half a year he joined the Portuguese second division CD Tondela , where he came on a mission. In early 2014, the Serbian first division club FK Sloboda Užice signed him. He came up with four short assignments.
In the second half of 2014 Amuneke was without a club before joining IS Halmia in Division 1 in early 2015 . Here he was initially a regular before he found himself on the substitute bench. In 2016 he went to Northern Ireland, where he first played with the lower class Ballynure Old Boys . There he drew attention to himself with twelve hits in eight missions. In early 2017, first division club Linfield FC signed him . In the 2016/17 season he played twice as a substitute and won the championship with his team at the end of the season. In mid-2017 he moved to Portadown FC in the Northern Irish second division .
Amuneke played for Nigeria twice, during the World Cup qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany , he made his debut against Rwanda on June 5, 2005 . The striker came on for Paul Obiefule in the 79th minute. The match in Kigali ended 1-1.

Amuneke is the brother of the former striker of FC Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon and current soccer coach and Olympic champion from 1996 in Atlanta Emmanuel Amuneke , as well as Kingsley Amuneke, currently working in Sweden.
