Trarbach church district

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Protestant parish of Trarbach was from 1817 to 1948 a parish of the Rhine Province of the Evangelical Church in Prussia and from 1948 to 1972 a parish of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . In 1972, he merged with the parish of Simmern to Kirchenkreis Simmern-Trarbach .

history

The places in the Trarbacher Kirchenkreis formerly belonged predominantly to the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim , some places were Kurtrierisch , Vorponheimisch or were part of the Duchy of Simmern ; in addition, the places of the former Kröver empire belonged to the area of the church district.

Hintersponheim was subordinate to Baden and the Palatinate from 1437 and was administered from the office in Birkenfeld .

Apart from the region around Zell , the Lutheran Reformation was introduced in 1557 by Friedrich II. Von Pfalz-Simmern . Due to the condominium - unlike in the neighboring frontsponheim and in the Duchy of Simmern - there was no later transition to the Reformed creed.

A Lutheran Palatinate consistory was located in Trarbach since 1672 . It included a secular council, a spiritual inspector, and a secretary.

Since 1776 the territory was completely under the Pfalz-Zweibrücken . The consistory in Zweibrücken took over the church supervision; a consistorial commission established the regional connection.

After integration into the French state, a consistorial church was built in Trarbach on June 9, 1806.

When the Central Moselle became part of Prussia as a result of the Congress of Vienna , a consistorial decree of December 19, 1818 ordered the formation of the Trarbach district community. The Protestant communities in the districts of Bernkastel , Trier and Zell belonged to it . Already in 1825 the division into the church district Trarbach and the church district Wolf took place. The Wolfer parish moved to Trarbach in 1892, because in the absence of the pastor, the supply of the parish from its own parish was difficult to guarantee due to long distances, but Wolf was only 4 km away from Trarbach. Although the same was true for Kleinich , this remained in the district church association with Trier. With the change of church district in Wolfer, the Wolf church district was renamed to Trier church district .

Evangelical island on the Moselle

The entire Moselle region is denominationally strongly Roman Catholic . With the exception of the villages of the former Kröver Reich and the places in the Verbandsgemeinde Zell, the church district of Trarbach formed one of three "Protestant islands" on the Moselle; the second is the towns of Andel , Burgen , Dusemond , Gornhausen , Mülheim and Veldenz , the third is the town of Winningen . By forming a church district on the Moselle itself - u. a. Due to the historical importance of Trarbach - the Evangelical Church on the Moselle was emphasized more than without such an education.
