Kirill Olegowitsch Kaprisow ( Russian Кирилл Олегович Капризов ; English transcription: Kirill Olegovich Kaprizov ; born April 26, 1997 in Novokuznetsk ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League (NHL) since July 2020 plays in the position of the left winger . Kaprisow was selected as the overall first in the KHL Junior Draft 2014 by Metallurg Novokuznetsk .
Career
Kaprisow spent his junior years in the offspring of Metallurg Novokuznetsk . In the 2014/15 season he made his debut in the first team in the Continental Hockey League , as the club had secured its services through the KHL Junior Draft 2014 . In the 2015 NHL Entry Draft , the Russian was selected in the fifth round in 135th position by Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League (NHL).
In the summer of 2016, the winger was signed by league rival Salawat Yulayev Ufa and was the second-best scorer behind Sweden's Linus Omark with 42 points in the following season , before moving to HK CSKA Moscow in May 2017 in return for financial compensation . There he played for three years and won the Gagarin Cup with the team . For the 2020/21 season, the striker moved to the Minnesota Wild in the NHL.
International
For his home country, Kaprisow played in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2014 , the U20 World Junior Championship in 2016 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2017 and won the silver medal with his team in 2016 and as captain and top scorer of the tournament with nine goals in 2017 the bronze medal in seven games.
With the Russian national team , Kaprisow took part in the 2018 Winter Games and became Olympic champion there under a neutral flag. He was the top scorer (5) of the tournament together with Ilya Kovalchuk and Ryan Donato .
