Kissing Jessica is a romantic independent comedy from 2001. The film is based on the off-Broadway play Lipschtick .

action

The 28-year-old Jessica Stein, a Jewish journalist who lives in New York , is actually tired of the various blind dates when she stumbles upon a classified ad quoting Rainer Maria Rilke . The ad is from gallery owner Helen Cooper. At first skeptical, Jessica gets involved with Helen. At first the relationship seems almost perfect, but the longer Jessica keeps the relationship a secret, the more unsatisfied Helen becomes with the situation. Jessica's family also seems to be an obstacle, as the mother tries again and again to couple Jessica.

The two main actresses already played the roles in the stage play and also wrote the script. In the audio commentary, the producers talk about the shooting; many random passers-by as well as the grandmother of one of the producers appear in the film. Some background scenes in New York were later cut out because they showed the World Trade Center .
