Klaus-Peter Siegloch (born May 15, 1946 in Hamburg ) is a former German politician ( CDU ), journalist and lobbyist .

Siegloch was a television journalist in leading positions at NDR and ZDF from 1973 to 2011 . From 2005 to 2012 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bertelsmann Foundation . Between June 2011 and June 2016 he was full-time President of the Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry (BDL).

Life

Siegloch studied political science , sociology and economics at the University of Hamburg . He graduated in 1973 with a diploma in political science. In 1970 he was then resident in Ottensen , and was elected to the Altona district assembly as a candidate for the CDU for one term (until 1974) .

His professional career began in 1973 as an editor for Norddeutscher Rundfunk. He initially worked for the Tagesschau and regional television. For ZDF moved Siegloch 1988 on the recommendation of Hanns Joachim Friedrichs . There he was the head of the main internal affairs department for programs such as Länderspiegel , Politbarometer and, together with the then ZDF editor-in-chief Klaus Bresser , for the series Was nun, ...? responsible. Siegloch became head of the ZDF studio in Bonn in 1991 . In 1992 he took over the role of deputy editor-in-chief.

In 1995 Siegloch became studio manager in Washington . In 1999 he returned to Germany and took over the moderation of the heute program - alternating with Petra Gerster . From 2003 he was deputy editor-in-chief of ZDF and head of the main news department. From 2003 to May 2007 Siegloch was the presenter of heute-journal , where he took turns with Marietta Slomka and Claus Kleber . In June 2007 he was replaced by Steffen Seibert . On June 1, 2007, Siegloch moved back to Washington, where in November 2007 he took over the management of the ZDF studio. From December 1, 2008, Siegloch was head of the ZDF office in New York - responsible, among other things, for reporting from Wall Street and the UN as well as Canada. In April 2011, he left the ZDF for reasons of age.

On March 2, 2011, Siegloch was elected President of the Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry (BDL). He took over the office on June 1, 2011, five years later he handed it over to Stefan Schulte (until then CEO of Fraport ).

Siegloch is married and has two children.
