Klaus Link (born June 5, 1948 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Link played with VfB Lübeck from 1966/67 to 1969/70 for four seasons in the second-rate Regionalliga Nord and completed 106 regional league games with three goals for the Green-Whites von der Lohmühle . He made his debut under coach Heinz Lucas and with coach Kurt Krause and teammates such as Manfred Bomke , Horst Wenzel , Claus Schygulla , Hans-Jürgen Wittfoht , Siegfried Bronnert , Otto Hartz , Helmut Hosung and Rainer Waberski reached the runner-up in the north in 1969 and thus entered the Bundesliga promotion round. There he came on another three missions.

For the 1970/71 season he accepted the offer of the Bundesliga club Rot-Weiss Essen and moved to Hafenstrasse to join the Red-Whites. In the 1970/71 season he was in the squad next to Hermann Erlhoff , Heinz Stauvermann and Peter Czernotzky . He made his debut on the first match day when he was substituted on in the 68th minute of the game. In the game against Hannover 96 he came for Heinz Koch , when the score was 0-0. After goals for RWE from Walter Hohnhausen and the Dutchman Willi Lippens , Essen won 2-0. In his second appearance in the Bundesliga, it was the 18th matchday, so the second leg against H96 turned the tide, this time the winner was Hanover (final score 3: 1). The men from Hafenstrasse were relegated from bottom of the table. Link left Essen and went to Röchling Völklingen .

The next three years he played in the Regionalliga Südwest . In the first year the runner-up behind Borussia Neunkirchen was celebrated. In the subsequent promotion round, Link completed all eight games over the full playing time. Among other things, it went against his old club RWE, which had also become runner-up in the western relay. Both games were lost 2-1. The other games against FC St. Pauli and Kickers Offenbach could not be completed successfully either, only one win against Wacker 04 Berlin was recorded. So Link stayed with his club in the second-class regional league. In the second year, 1972/73, they became runner-up again under coach Helmuth Johannsen , this time behind 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In the promotion round it was not enough for promotion, but Link had played all eight games at the side of teammates such as Jürgen Stars , Hans-Werner Kremer , Klaus Hommrich , Lothar Weschke , Horst Berg , Robert Pötzschke and Jürgen Fuhrmann . For Völklingen he played 53 games in which he scored three goals. He made a total of 19 appearances in the Bundesliga promotion rounds in 1969, 1972 and 1973.

The 1973/74 season was marked by the fact that it was the last year for the second-rate regional league, as the DFB had decided to introduce the 2nd Bundesliga for the next year. Link joined SV Waldhof Mannheim in the Regionalliga Süd . He finished in seventh place under coach Philipp Rohr and alongside his teammates Günter Sebert and Wolfgang Böhni and was thus qualified for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga . In the next two years the defensive player completed 54 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and scored a goal for the blue-blacks from Alsenweg.

Link has a total of 2 games in the Bundesliga, 188 (6) Regional League, 19 BL-AR and 54 (1) games in the 2nd Bundesliga.
