Klaus Listemann

Klaus Listemann (born June 6, 1940 in Höngeda , Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis ) is a former major general of the National People's Army of the German Democratic Republic .

Life

Klaus Listemann was born the son of a worker, graduated from school with the 12th grade in the basic subjects and learned the trade of a knitter from 1954 to 1957 .

On October 10, 1957, he joined the National People's Army as a soldier and served in the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment (MSR-22) " Thomas Müntzer " in Mühlhausen , a unit of the 4th motorized rifle division of the People's Army. From 1958 to 1960 he went to the training battalion-4 as a non-commissioned officer and was then group leader in the MSR-22.

Immediately after completing his training as a sergeant , Listemann decided to pursue a career as an officer and went to the infantry school in Plauen in the Vogtland as an officer student . In 1961 he joined the SED while studying . In 1963, with the amalgamation of the various officers ' schools , he went to the officers' college of the land forces "Ernst Thälmann" in Löbau , finished the school with the appointment as sub-lieutenant and then remained as platoon leader and specialist teacher in Löbau. In 1968 Listemann became company commander and main subject teacher at this teaching facility. In 1972 he moved to the " Friedrich Engels " military academy in Dresden as an officer auditor, where he prepared for his renewed assignment in the troops.

In 1975 Listemann became the commander of a motorized rifle battalion in the 23rd motorized rifle regiment " Anton Saefkow " in Bad Salzungen . From 1976 to 1978 he was commander for training in the motorized rifle regiment 24 “ John Schehr ” in Erfurt and then until 1979 regimental commander of the motorized rifle regiment 7 “ Max Roscher ” in Marienberg . In preparation for further studies he was able to acquire further experience in staff work in the staff of the 7th Panzer Division in Dresden as deputy commander for training from 1979 to 1982 . From 1982 to 1984 Listemann completed additional studies at the General Staff Academy of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics .

After graduating from the academy, Klaus Listemann was appointed deputy commander and chief of staff of the 7th Panzer Division in Dresden in 1984. On July 1, 1985, he was appointed commander of this division after his predecessor in office, Günter Möckel , delegated to an organization course and then became chief of the Karl-Marx-Stadt military district command . List man remained in the service position as commander of the 7th Armored Division until September 30, 1987, decreased thereafter as Chief Training and Deputy Chief of the Military District V of Neubrandenburg . On the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the GDR , Klaus Listemann was appointed major general in Berlin on October 7, 1987 .

When there was a change in the army leadership after the Volkskammer election of March 18, 1990 and the government formed on April 12, under Lothar de Maizière , when high-ranking military officials retired from active service, Klaus Listemann became boss on April 18, 1990 Training of the NVA in the Ministry for Disarmament and Defense of the GDR. With the dissolution of the NVA on October 2, 1990, he received the certificate of discharge signed by Minister Rainer Eppelmann .
