geography

course

The Kleine Ohe arises from the confluence of its source streams on the western and southern slopes of the Lusen ( 1,373  m above sea level ) in the high altitudes of the Bavarian Forest. The longest strand begins with the southwest of the Lusengipfel at about 1104  m above sea level. Filzbach, which rises from the NHN and which, after two kilometers to the west, then north-west, merges with the other source streams northeast of the community exclave Waldhäuser von Neuschönau in the Triftsee Martinsklause at 976  m above sea level. NHN united to the Little Ohe.

This flows its first almost two kilometers west to the Fredenbrücke, where you join the Schreyerbach from the Plattenhausenriegel in the north. There it bends south on its now long middle course. At a little over 670  m above sea level. NHN leaves the closed forest area and is briefly Grenzbach between the municipality of Sankt Oswald-Riedlhütte in the west and the municipality of Neuschönau in the east. Along the border from this to the urban area of Grafenau , it is then reinforced from the east by the Sägwasser , its largest tributary.

Then it flows in western to southern directions through its urban area towards Grafenau, which lies with its older parts on the right bank. After the development limit, it bends south at the associated Dimpflmühle. After more than five kilometers further south it flows at the Ettlmühle of the city and under the church village Eberhardsreuth on the opposite slope at about 630  m above sea level. NHN with their larger upper reaches Large Ohe that little earlier nor the Mitternacher Ohe , has added to the beginning and Schoenberger Ohe mentioned Ilz together.

Since 1976 the Kleine Ohe in Grafenau has been dammed into the Grafenauer See.

Catchment area

The Kleine Ohe has a catchment area of 105.3 km², which in natural terms lies in the Upper Palatinate-Bavarian Forest with the higher, northern parts in the lower area of the Hinterer Bayerischer Wald , with the lower areas in the lower area of Passau Abteiland and the Neuburg Forest . In the north there is therefore the most prominent watershed, which roughly follows the German-Czech border, namely to the Vydra , which on the other side of its water ultimately leads over the Vltava and Elbe into the North Sea; this catchment area boundary is therefore part of the European main watershed between the North Sea and the Black Sea.

On the east side, the catchment area of the Reschbach borders for a long time , the right upper reaches of the Wolfsteiner Ohe , which receives two shorter streams from the southeast side and also drains into the Ilz . To the south of the catchment area border the Biberbach and further up the even shorter Reitbachgraben to the Itz compete . Beyond the western watershed there is a catchment area of the right upper reaches of the Ilz, Große Ohe .

The greatest heights are reached on the northern edge on the ridge height of the Bavarian Forest. The highest elevations are from west to east: the Plattenhausenriegel at 1372  m above sea level. NHN , the Lusen at 1373  m above sea level. NHN and the Hohe Filzberg at 1279  m above sea level. NHN .

history

In 1558 the city of Grafenau tried to get the right to tribe on the Kleine Ohe . The river was used for the wood drift from the middle of the 16th century until shortly after the Second World War . In this way, the citizens were supplied with firewood and construction wood from the northern forests around the Lusen. On January 28, 1581, the city of Grafenau waived the racing and driving money on the Kleine Ohe by Duke Wilhelm . In the following centuries there were repeated disputes between the town of Grafenau and the St. Oswald monastery because of the wood drift , which were only ended with the secularization of the former provost in 1803.
