Life and professional history

Dota Kehr spent childhood and youth in the Berlin districts of Ruhleben, Zehlendorf and Schöneberg. She first played the saxophone and began performing at fairs when she was 14. These early recordings were influenced by bossa nova . The love for South American music stems from her childhood. A Brazilian babysitter left a tape for the Kehr family: Elis & Tom ( Elis Regina and Tom Jobim , 1974). Dota Kehr was able to sing along to the lyrics by heart without actually understanding Portuguese. She later learned to speak the Portuguese language fluently.

Dota Kehr studied medicine in Berlin and graduated in 2010. In 2003 she received a scholarship to study abroad in Brazil . In Fortaleza she recorded a record with Danilo Guilherme (Central Island Vacation) . Later she lived in São Paulo with the guitarist Regis Damasceno, who plays on this record. She then lived in Ecuador for a while . She recorded the album Schall und Schatten with Brazilian musicians, u. a. with the singer Chico César .

The 2010 album Bis auf der Grund is more influenced by folk rock and elements from jazz and fair music. On the 2012 released debut album The imagination will prevail by Max prose it is the song Until home Prosas duet partner.

It has been part of the reading dune since the beginning of 2019 .

Dota Kehr has two children who were born in 2011 and 2013.

Loose Change Princess Records

Loose change princess goes back to her stage name as a street musician , which she used until the mid-2000s. Dota founded her own label Kleingeldprinzessin Records , on which, in addition to her own albums, productions by other artists (e.g. Uta Köbernick ) appear. Kehr takes care of the design, merchandising and large parts of the distribution of your CDs. She awarded her doctorate to an agency. In March 2011 the CD Dota - Solo Live was also released on this label with songs, some of which were still unreleased, and two spoken texts.
