Knoxville is a small town (with the status " City ") and the administrative seat of Marion County of middle-southeast US -amerikanischen state of Iowa . At the 2010 census , Knoxville had 7,313 residents.

Knoxville is located about 10 km southwest of the Des Moines River dammed up to Lake Red Rock at 41 ° 19'09 "north latitude and 93 ° 06'05" west longitude and extends over 11.5 km².

Neighboring towns are Pella (14 miles northeast), Durham (10 miles west), Pershing (11.8 miles southeast), Melcher  -  Dallas (25.5 miles southwest) and Pleasantville (19.1 miles west northwest).

On the southern edge of Knoxville, Iowa Highways 5 and 92 run on a shared route in a west-easterly direction , where they intersect with Iowa Highway 14 , which runs north-south through the center of the city and meets a number of subordinate roads.

A few kilometers parallel to the Des Moines River runs through the center of the city of the Norfolk Southern Railway .

The Knoxville Municipal Airport is 2 miles south of downtown Knoxville .
