KIF Kolding (actually Kolding IF Håndbold Elite A / S ) is a Danish handball club from Kolding . The club's women's department is called KIF Vejen .
history
The club was founded in 1941, and with its enthusiastic front man Th. Jepsen, the team quickly caught the attention of the town. In the mid-1950s the club specialized in indoor handball and both departments, women and men, gradually had sporting success.
The women's division at KIF Kolding has played in the Danish Håndboldligaen since 1998 . In 2005 the team moved to Vejen , is now called KIF Vejen and carries its games in the Vejen Idrætscenter . The club has never come close to top teams like Viborg HK or Slagelse DT .
In 1981 the men's division was relegated to the third Danish division. Two years later, Kolding rose again to the second division. KIF was promoted to the Danish basic series in 1984; After just three years, the club's first championship was celebrated. Since then, the team has been an integral part of the basic series with 14 championship titles, the greatest international successes being the semi-finals of the EHF Champions League in 2002 and the final of the European City Cup in 1997.
In 1998 the handball department of its parent club Kolding IF became independent and has been called Kolding IF Håndbold Elite A / S ever since .
