Konrad Friedrich von Hausmann (born January 23, 1853 in Schwedt / Oder , † March 19, 1923 in Sinnershausen ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry .

Life

Konrad was the son of the later Prussian Lieutenant General Karl von Hausmann (1816–1879) and his wife Anna, née Soltmann (1827–1876). His grandfather was the mineralogist Friedrich Hausmann .

Military career

Hausmann joined the Prussian Army , graduated from the War Academy and was transferred to Mannheim in 1877 as Prime Lieutenant in the 1st Badische Leib-Dragoons Regiment No. 20 . In the further course of his military career, Hausmann became commander of the Schleswig-Holstein Dragoon Regiment No. 13 , which was stationed in Metz . In 1900 he was promoted to major general and was appointed commander of the 28th Cavalry Brigade in Karlsruhe . In 1904 he was promoted to lieutenant general and appointed quartermaster general. From February 15, 1906, he was in command of the 16th Division and on January 19, 1908, he received the Order of the Crown, 1st Class. Under awarding of the character as a cavalry general to put home on 17 February 1908, the statutory pension for disposition .

At the outbreak of the First World War , Hausmann was reused and commanded the 8th Replacement Division on the Western Front until September 1, 1914 .

family

During his service in Mannheim, Hausmann got to know the Engelhorn family in Mannheim. On June 20, 1882, he married Laura Engelhorn, the youngest daughter of the factory owner Friedrich Engelhorn , founder of the Baden aniline and soda factory . After the death of his father-in-law in 1902, the Hausmanns were financially able to purchase Sinnershausen Castle in Thuringia from their inheritance . Hausmann died here in 1923.
