The Konstanzer Ach , together with its upper reaches Jugetbach , is a river in the Oberallgäu district at the south-western tip of Bavaria , which is more than 21 km long and flows into the upper Iller from the left in Immenstadt im Allgäu . The morphologically very pronounced valley of the Konstanzer Ach is called the Konstanzer Tal .

geography

Upper course Jugetbach

The source of the highest branch of the Jugetbach rises less than three kilometers northeast of the center of the Oberstaufen church village of Kalzhofen on the upper southern slope of the Kalzhofner Höhe ( 1118  m above sea level ) a little above the Tröblersalpe at about 1073  m above sea level. NHN . Here is a small start Tobel by the Jugetwald , the run on its southwest side run some more Bachtobel. A little before the town of Kalzhofen, the Jugetbach, still accompanied by a gallery, emerges from the forest and then runs through the church village in its lower course to the left. Accompanied by the St 2005, it then crosses the narrowness south-east between the Staufner Berg ( 1042  m above sea level ) on the right and a ridge on the left that comes from the Salmaser Höhe ( 1254  m above sea level ) and only finally descends steeper. At the roundabout of the B 308 near Hinterstaufen it takes about 752  m above sea level. NHN opens a small stream from the right and becomes the Konstanzer Ach after a good 5 km run.

course

The Konstanzer Ach draws on her much longer running constantly eastward through the Konstanz Valley , a deep V-shaped valley up over a kilometer wide, very flat sole, where it is accompanied by drainage ditches now and then and a lot of mostly 1-2 km long and Almost vertically tapering slope streams from Waldtobeln flow into both sides of the valley. Together with the B 308 that runs alongside it and the Allgäubahn at the left foot of the slope, it passes the seven villages of Knechtenhofen, Salmas, Lamprechts, Thalkirchdorf, Wiedemannsdorf, Osterdorf and Konstanzer in the Oberstaufen district of Thalkirchdorf . The river and valley continue unchanged in the Bühl am Alpsee district of the adjoining urban area of Immenstadt im Allgäu . A little before the small Teufelssee on the right, the valley floor becomes damp, after it has passed the rest of the lake, it flows into the 724  m above sea level next to its own drain . NHN lying Großer Alpsee .

At the eastern end of the three-kilometer-long and almost one-kilometer-wide lake with a depth of just over 20 meters, the Konstanzer Ach flows out through the Immenstadt church village of Bühl am Alpsee in an approximately east-southeast direction. This is where the lower course, which is only about four kilometers long, begins, on which the small river immediately after Bühl runs through the little lower lying, less than eight hectares covering and much shallower Little Alpsee. Then it runs through the settlement zone of Immenstadt itself, north past the old town and finally flows into the Iller from the left at the northeast end of the city .

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Konstanzer Ach has a size of 69 km² and extends over 16 km quite precisely eastwards from the village center of Markt Oberstaufen to the mouth on the northeastern outskirts of Immenstadt; across it it is mostly less than 5 km wide. It is located on the north-western edge of the Allgäu Alps to the northern Alpine foothills . The highest mountain in it is 1487  m above sea level. NHN high Himmelseck, over it the southern watershed, which is mostly higher than the northern one, which is up to 1254  m above sea level. NHN rises furthest on the Salmaser Höhe .

On this north side, the catchment area of the Upper Argen borders in the northwest , and further east that of the Untere Argen , both of which drain westwards over the Argen to Lake Constance . In the far northeast, smaller bodies of water like the Hölltobelbach on the other side of the watershed to the Iller and Danube compete . Behind the mountains in the south of the Konstanzer Tal, the Gunzesrieder Ach flows in the southeast above the Konstanzer Ach northeast to the Iller, while the Weißach emerging just behind the Scheide flows westwards to the Bregenzer Ach , which is now back into Lake Constance , a little behind the central and southwestern part of the catchment area border and thus drained to the Rhine . The western part of the total watershed is thus part of the European main watershed between the Danube and the Black Sea on this side and the Rhine and North Sea on the other.

The Jugetbach runs in the Nagelflughohe heights and depressions, which are partly counted as part of the Allgäu Alps , partly not, while the Konstanzer Ach with the valley of the Konstanzer Ach runs on their border with the Nagelfluh layer ridges of the Allgäu Alps. The mountain ridges accompanying the valley to the right and left consist of rocks from the Lower Freshwater Molasse with a few enclosed islands of Wurmzeit young moraine. The valley floor of the Konstanzer Ach is filled with a Young Holocene valley filling made of marl, clay, sand, gravel, and sometimes peat with different origins and origins. The lower Kerbtal of the approaching Steigbach follows roughly a short fault line.
