Korisamaña ( also Chairo ) is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Korisamaña is a village in the canton of Pacollo in the municipality of Coroico in the province of Nor Yungas . The municipality is located at an altitude of 1296 m on the Río Huarinilla, which joins ten kilometers downstream with the Río Elena to the Río Coroico and continues over the Río Kaka to the Río Beni .

Korisamaña lies in a valley on the eastern edge of the Cordillera Real in the Bolivian Yungas , a transition region between the Andean highlands ( altiplano ) and the tropical lowlands of the Amazon - rainforest . The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

Korisamaña is 96 kilometers northeast of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.
From La Paz, the paved national road Ruta 3 leads to Cotapata , where the old Yungas road ( "Ruta de la muerte" - road of death) branches off to Coroico to the east. The new route of Ruta 3 leads from here through the San Rafael tunnel in a northerly direction to Santa Bárbara and on via Caranavi , Yucumo and San Ignacio de Moxos to Trinidad on the Río Mamoré . A few kilometers before the developed Ruta 3 reaches the valley floor on the Río Huarinilla, a dirt road branches off to the northwest, which reaches Korisamaña after three kilometers .
Korisamaña (Chairo) is one of the endpoints of the Choro Trek , an ancient Inca trail that can be reached from La Paz via the La Cumbre pass (4727 m) and the Abra Chucura Pass (almost 5000 m) and from Challapampa via Korisamaña the Río Huarinilla down to Pacollo .
