The Municipio Coroico is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality Coroico is one of two municipalities in the province of Nor Yungas and is located in the western part of the province. It borders in the northwest and west with the province of Murillo , in the south with the province Sud Yungas , in the east with the municipality Coripata , and in the northeast with the province Caranavi .
The municipality has 125 localities ( localidades ). The central place of the municipality is Coroico with 2,319 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the eastern part of the district.
geography
The Municipio Coroico is located at a mean altitude of 2000 m 90 km east of Lake Titicaca in the Yungas region between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real and the foothills of the Amazon lowlands.
The annual precipitation here in the subtropical Yungas is 1100 mm (see Coroico climate diagram) and has a clear dry season from May to August and a rainy season from December to February. The monthly average temperatures fluctuate only insignificantly between 20 ° C and 25 ° C.
