Koulpélogo is a province in the Center-Est region in the West African state of Burkina Faso with 320,166 inhabitants on 5348 km².

The name comes from the river of the same name flowing through the province and means something like "river with white water" and the capital is Ouargaye .

Koulpélogo is located in the southeast of the country and borders the Gourma and Kompienga provinces of the Est region to the north and east . In the south, Koulpélogo borders on the state of Togo and in the west on the province of Boulgou .

The relief of the landscape in Sudan is mainly flat with a few slight elevations. Laterite soils are predominant with the typical vegetation of the dry savannas. The temporary watercourses flow towards the Nihao and the Koulpélogo. There are small reservoirs that collect the rainfall from the rainy season.

The tropical, humid climate of Sudan is characterized by the alternation of dry and rainy seasons, which last from May to September.

45% of the inhabitants are Mossi , 9% Fulbe and 8% Bissa . More than half of the residents are Muslim, followed by members of indigenous religions and Christians.

In 1996 the province was formed from departments of the provinces Boulgou and Gourma. It roughly covers the area called Yanga by the Mossi , whose inhabitants call themselves Yana and speak a dialect of Moré .

Koulpélogo includes the departments of Comin-Yanga , Dourtenga , Lalgaye , Ouargaye , Sanga , Soudougui , Yargatenga and Yondé .

A sand road leads from the west from Tenkodogo to the southeast to the border with Togo. There is an RTB transmitter in Ouargaye .

The inhabitants of Koulpélogos live mainly from agriculture. The cultivation of millet is particularly important.
