The Krebsbach is a main stream over 12 km long in the district of Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the upper Würm from the left and south in Ehningen .

course

The Krebsbach arises in the course of its name from several source streams in the Herrenberg city forest in the extreme northwest of the Schönbuch between Herrenberg and Rohrau . The source branch called Krebsbach calms its course near the Breiten Stein on the L 1184 Herrenberg – Hildrizhausen through the Herrenberger Stadtwald at about 530  m above sea level. NHN and is soon reinforced by the hill spring called Kalter Brunnen . After emerging from the forest, it flows through Rohrau north-northeast and then from the left takes on some of the upper reaches of the mostly open land in the north-west to the west-south-west, which are united by their main line upper reaches Hungergraben . Their running fan spreads wider than its own run until it is long, and they clearly exceed the name branch in maximum length and combined catchment area. Further north-northeast, the Krebsbach then reaches Ehningen , where it joins the upper Würm from the left .

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Krebsbach covers around 44 km². From a natural point of view, it is located on the northwestern edge of the southern Schönbuch to the Upper Gäuen . The uppermost right branch of the water system, named after the Krebsbach, arises in the western tip of the Schönbuch between Herrenberg and Rohrau a little east of the Schönbuch tunnel of the A 81 , above which at its southern limit the at around 560  m above sea level. NHN is the highest point of the catchment area. Most of the course and even more the left branches of the brook system, which are predominant in terms of length and sub-catchment area, flow outside the Schönbuch border in the Upper Gauens , especially in the Korngäu , on the sloping plain of Kuppingen and, like the Lower Krebsbach, in the peripheral areas of the Schwippebucht .

The southern catchment area border through the Schönbuch is also the most important hydrologically, beyond that the Ammer and its large lower inflow, the Goldersbach , drain to the upper Neckar , while the outflow of the Krebsbach, like all its other competitors , reaches the Neckar via the Nagold and Enz . The upper catchment area of the Nagold itself borders on the less prominent western watershed, on the equally flat northern one that of the next larger Würm tributary, Aid , behind the east, the Nagold tributary and Krebsbach receiving water, Würm, itself behind the somewhat more prominent Scheide, is created.
