The motorway junction Wünnenberg-Haaren (abbreviation: AK Wünnenberg-Haaren ; short form: Kreuz Wünnenberg-Haaren ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia in East Westphalia-Lippe . It connects the federal highway 44 ( Aachen - Dortmund - Kassel ; E 331 ) with the federal highway 33 ( Osnabrück - Paderborn ).

The motorway junction is in the urban area of Bad Wünnenberg in the Paderborn district . Closest neighborhoods are Haar und Helmern . The surrounding towns and communities are Büren , Salzkotten , Lichtenau and Borchen . It is located about 15 km south of Paderborn city ​​center, about 60 km northwest of Kassel and about 90 km east of Dortmund .

The Paderborn / Lippstadt Airport is located only a few kilometers northwest of the cross.

It is also not far from the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park .

The Wünnenberg-Haaren motorway junction has junction number 31 on the A 33 and number 61 on the A 44.

history

It was opened to traffic in 1972 and initially served to connect the federal highway 480 Paderborn - Brilon , which in this area was expanded like a motorway over a few kilometers. In the 1980s, this section of the B 480 became the A 33.

Design and state of development

The A 33 has four lanes, as is the A 44. The connecting ramps are single-track.

The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf , with the A 44 crossing the A 33 at right angles.
